About

On February 27th, 2021, Robin and I (Zoey) created Haunted Hospitality. When two friends love each other very much, they spend the evening talking about ghosts, true crime, and mysteries on the couch. From that, a podcast is conceived. With a lot of planning and support from loved ones, Robin and I simultaneously birthed Haunted Hospitality, with the first episode airing April 5th, 2021.

The world knows that a millennial woman’s favorite thing to do is fantasize—and by that, I mean listen to podcasts about murder and ghosts. While the actual statistics escape me, anecdotal evidence suggests that most true crime podcasts have women as their majority listeners. While I’m unsure if the same applies to paranormal podcasts, I feel the trend may be in the same favor.

And as the popularity of podcasts rise, more and more people are saying to themselves, “Hey, I should start a podcast.”

That is exactly what we did.

But the market is drowned in true crime and paranormal podcasts—so how do you stand out from the crowd? The only way is to find your angle.

For us, it’s the American South. Here is our map (southern states in blue)! While there was much debate on if we could cut Florida in half and only take the top, we both decided it would be easier to take the entire state.

Robin and I met in South Carolina in 8th Grade. Though Robin thought I hated her at first, we quickly grew close. When people inevitably mistake us for siblings or twins, we roll with it. While I think it’s only because we both have pale skin, red hair, and freckles, Robin did once see her own reflection and think it was me.

A woman [Robin] with red hair and green eyes, wearing a blue tank top

This is Robin! In her own words, her life is “just one long ping pong tournament across the southeast.” She moved from North Carolina to Georgia to South Carolina to a different town in SC to GA (briefly) again to SC to NC and then back to good ol’ SC once more. During her most recent bout in NC, she got her MFA in creative writing from UNCG. She currently works in content editing/writing and has been known to use the word, “y’all’d’ve.” She thinks a ghost shook her shoulder once.

A woman [Zoey] with red hair, wearing purple glasses, purple lipstick and a black dress with a white sailor’s collar

This is me, Zoey! I was a military brat when I was younger and moved around quite a bit. I was born in North Carolina and I moved to South Carolina to stay when I was four. My family is from Massachusetts, so I hate to claim the South, but its hard to deny being a G.R.I.T.S when you’re literally a girl who was raised in the South. I still refuse to say “y’all”. I attended the University of South Carolina and graduated with a Bachelors in English. I work in Real Estate and live with my boyfriend right outside of Columbia, SC. I was born with red hair and open eyes, and my grandmother would tell me all the time that I was just like her, a sensitive. I used to see ghosts frequently, but my “gift” weakened as I grew older. I haven’t experienced any ghosts in a long time, but honestly, I can’t wait to change that!
