Something Spooky + Eventual Patreon!

Helloooo. As you may or may not know, we do a “Something Southern” at the beginning of every episode. These range from our favorite travel destinations (ep 2), to southern food quizzes (ep 6), to famous southern celebrities (ep 7)! And we love our Something Southerns, we do.

BUT we want to expand our (spooky) horizons and introduce a new segment: Something Spooky! Now, we won’t be doing both segments in our episodes, but they’re going to alternate according to our moods and/or previous planning.

So what’s Something Spooky? It’s (gasp) spooky and not necessarily southern! In our inaugural Something Spooky, we talk about what subjects we would like to do an episode on that unfortunately didn’t take place in the south.

Robin’s longed-for subject is the Salem Witch Trials—she’s not here thinking that there were witches in Salem, but instead wants to take a look at the possible causes ranging from scientific to socioeconomic. Fun, right?!

Zoey’s longed-for subject is kids who inexplicably reference their past lives, which is just…lovely.

This brings us to our second announcement: we’ve starting recording extra episodes so that when we start up a Patreon, supporters will have a stockpile of content they can listen to upfront! These minisodes (which aren’t so mini) will be like Something Spooky, except longer!

We’ve recorded two of these episodes thus far: a cinematic analysis of The Woman in Black (2012) in which we discuss a raven-like Daniel Radcliffe slowly walking through old rooms without noticing the ghost RIGHT BEHIND HIM, and a tarot-themed episode where we discuss whether or not we believe there’s something magical about tarot (Robin nay, Zoey yay) and give each other surprisingly helpful readings!

Anywho, expect these to crop up from time to time—and if you have any suggestions, let us know!
