Ep 69 – Frights in the Wild Pt 1

Have you ever wandered into the woods by yourself only to feel like you were being watched? If so, you aren’t alone. In this episode, Robin scoured the internet for first person accounts of paranormal experiences in the Southern US wilderness. Expect five true horror stories spanning Appalachia, involving an arsonist ghost, a dopplegänger, a potential cryptid, and more — including the possible return of a weather woman/Lady in White we covered in our Old House Woods episode. Join us as we uncover what may be hiding in the trees.

But first, Zoey has a something spooky on why crossroads are a hotspot for paranormal experiences.

Hi! This is Robin. I missed recording a couple episodes for health reasons, but now I’m back and super stoked for my return episode. Creepy encounters in the wild is a subject right up my alley. I spent a large chunk of my childhood living beside the woods; they’re spaces that encourage a sprawling imagination and creativity, but there’s a very real darkness to them. Perhaps because when we enter a place like the woods, we’re no longer the apex predator. It isn’t a home or a carefully constructed and organized city; it isn’t our place. There’s something very dangerous about the wild that always gives us a sense of vulnerability when we’re in it.

I’ve probably been watching too much Yellowjackets.
